Ben, the horse, was the first to pull Lewis Tompkins Hose fire wagon to fires at  Fishkill Landing  on Hudson

Lewis Tompkins Hose Company #1 was founded in 1886 by Lewis Tompkins, an owner of hat factories in Fishkill Landing.  In 1913 the city of Beacon, NY was incorporated and Lewis Tompkins Hose Co. #1 became part of the City of Beacon Fire Department.  The original fire house was at 162 Main Street.  LTH moved to a new fire station at 13 South Avenue in 1982.

Career Beacon Fire Fighter
A memorial service was held for retired Beacon Fire Department carrer fire fighter Gerald Ticehurst at Station 2  (Lewis Tompkins Hose) on Saturday, September 16, 2017.  The Elks Club members and friends, family and volunteer and career fire fighters were in attendance.

A memorial to pay tribute to Jerry Ticehurst was held at City of Beacon Fire Department Station 2 (Lewis Tompkins Hose Co. #1) on Saturday, September 16, 2017.  He was a Career Firefighter with the City of Beacon Fire Department and worked at Station 2.
